Gas, The New Gold - Mashville

Rex2 and Audroc took part in the June edition Mashville held at The End in Nashville. The idea behind the production/poster is the universal theme of the summer. There was a cookout with some DJs. WFR was the "live art installation." The Rebellion looks forward to working with the fine folks from Mashville again.

Ice Cold Live

Audroc and Rex2 got down at the Combined Visions jam "Ice Cold" in May. It was a good time. Rebellion supporter Dylan Mire was there taking photos, and he supplied us a few for the blog. We're hoping to get a good flick of the completed project hanging in its new home. Check back for that.

Project 21: So Flossy

We went all out on this. We teamed up with our friends at Studio 1403 and King Funk to create an interactive art show at their last party. The party was called "Butt Naked Booty Bash" and they brought in DJ Slugo, world famous house DJ from Chicago. It went down on Friday, March 28, and the almost famous WorkForce Rebellion provided the art.

What we did:
We created a visual theme that would be incoporated in mulitple ways at the event. That element was a WorkForce Rebellion pattern based on the fashion icon Louis Vuitton. We incoporated this pattern in a large scale graffiti mural (which included Rex2-TM, Verse-IA, AM7, Rago-IA, Audroc-TM), we used the same pattern on the wall behind the DJ, on a limited run of t-shirts and on 20 one-of-a-kind prints (by Audroc and Rex2) that some guests recieved. We also hung a lot of our other prints.

The party was great, and we hope to participate in some future events. Special thanks to rebellion supporters Aaron Ochoa and Thad.

Limited Edition Prints

Rex2 went into his stencil archive and broke out these gems. He only made two of each print and will not make any more prints with this stencil. The first is Jam Master Jay (RIP), the DJ for the legendary rap group Run DMC. The second is 80s rap pioneer Slick Rick.
These were originally created for "Kudzoo 3.0" a 2005 art show at Studio 1688 in Memphis, Tenn. Each was painted on a 2' x 2' wooden panel and themed around 1988 rap music icons. There were five panels created for that show and they were hung as a group. The other designs featured Eazy-E, KRS One and Biz Markie.
Kid Rock bought a Jam Master Jay panel for his home in Nashville.

Project 17 - Ali

Audroc got out his Muhammed Ali stencil and made this fresh print.
A little history -
The first fight between these two took place on February 25, 1964 in Miami Beach. It was Cassius Clay vs Charles "Sonny" Liston. Liston was the Heavy Weight Champion of the world, but lost the title to Clay that night.
Clay converted to Islam on February 28, 1964. On March 6, 1964 Elijah Muhammad, the founder and leader of the Nation of Islam, gave a radio address which he declared the name Cassius Clay lacked a "divine meaning" and gave him the muslim name Muhammad Ali.
The rematch between Muhammad Ali and Charles "Sonny" Liston took place in Lewiston, Maine, on May 25, 1965.
At the moment depicted Ali had just knocked Liston down and screamed "Get up Sonny!" Some people still think Sonny Liston took a dive.

Project 16 - Cash

Audroc busted out his Johnny Cash stencil and created this print.

Project 15 - Technics 1200s

Back in the day before MP3s and digital file sharing, there were several essential tools all good DJs had. The most essential were two good turntables, and The Technics SL-1200s were the best record players out. So if you had two 1200s, a good mixer and hot records (at least 1000) you were ready to rock the party.
This poster was created by Rex2 (Thoughts Manifested/TM crew) for all the DJs who rocked or are still rocking vinyl.

Bashville Stampede 4 - Trophies

Audroc has been representing b-boy culture for a long time. He's the OG break dancer of Nashville. So, he always supports Bashville Stampede, the biggest b-boy event/competition held in Nashville. It is thrown by Rocketown and Illville crew and organized by Q-Kong. This year it was bigger and better than ever.
Audroc made the trophies last year. The trophies went over so big with the participants, they asked AudRoc to make them for 2008. Here is what he created, and a picture of Q-Kong showing them to the crowd.

Quick Rebellion Plug

Rex2 ran into Nashville graffiti writer Begr-NSH, IA. Beg had a little something going and invited Rex2 to join in. The result was a little graffiti advertising for the rebellion.

Project 11 - Jungle Green

Krylon used to make the color Jungle Green but stopped in the late 1980s. Since then it has become graffiti lore. The color never went out of style with writers. Clever techniques were invented to mix spray paint. Mixing yellow and green gave artists varities close to the original.
Today many writers collect vintage spray paint and Jungle Green is one the most covetted colors. One Nashville collector has found some of these rare cans. Rex2 was lucky enough to buy his favorite color and some other great dead-stock cans from him. Rex2 created and painted this poster in honor of a great color that represents a period in graffiti with many innovations.

Tastes Like Burning Show

Thursday, February 7, 2008 Audroc and Rex2 took part in the Taste Like Burning show at Rocketown (downtown Nashville). Audroc was the show organizer. Also participating was Zew, Rago, Pako, Smok, Hasp, Tier2 and Veto. There was a really good turn out and some art was sold. It was nice to see Nashville's graffiti scene come together. We plan on doing some more of these group shows in the near future.
